Fusion Cloud delivers smooth business performance for leading car logistics company
Autohub was the first logistics company in New Zealand to ship cars door to door from overseas, handling the whole export/import process in both countries. Now a global leader in vehicle logistics, it holds the lion’s share of both the Australian market, and the market for shipping out of the UK to New Zealand and Australia.
Although brilliant at his job, Autohub founder John Davies is the first to admit that IT is not his forté. To make matters worse, most IT companies grind his gears.
But in 2016 John had a dilemma. Autohub’s tech was not keeping up with its success (the company had even beaten players like Maesrk and DHL to win the Global Freight Awards) and the thought of going solo in improving things was a massive headache.
John needed experts who could provide jargon-free advice, deliver what he wanted, when he wanted it, and project manage everything affordably with minimal stress.
Speed and security in a flash
When we arrived, Autohub had on-site servers and an IT set-up that didn’t make it easy to expand into new premises. Nor could the system handle the new financial and CRM systems that were waiting to be deployed.
The onsite server had to go. We replaced it with a fully-managed server hosted in the Fusion Cloud, which now securely holds all Autohub files, remote desktop, and the financial and document management database. Cloud technology also drives a new Shoretel phone system and managed wireless system.
We provide full back-up of hosted servers to two locations, virtually eliminating the risk of losing important information. To provide security, we connected all Autohub New Zealand offices to a private Fusion network.
Finally, we manage all Autohub computers and user devices, and also advise on and liaise with Autohub’s third-party software suppliers.
The result is exactly what John was seeking from the start: a single provider not only managing everything IT, but ensuring IT enables meaningful business outcomes. Knowing that IT has gone from being a source of stress for John to something he regards as central to Autohub’s success is extremely rewarding for us.
